In memory of Douglas Allen
Douglas started working with Stillwater Sciences when it was founded in 1996. He neatly spanned both the academic and consulting worlds, developing his skills in remote sensing and digital terrain modeling to better understand the relationships between geomorphology and fish habitat. Douglas helped develop a watershed-wide stream temperature model [BasinTemp©] that formed the basis of his PhD dissertation while working as a researcher and analyst both at UC Berkeley and with Stillwater.
He was an avid cricketer, had a very particular taste in wine, and had an unrivaled way with the English language. His endearing charm, strong intellect, and droll sense of humor will be missed by us all. Douglas passed away in April 2009.
A memorial and remembrance gathering attended by over 100 family members, friends, and colleagues was held on May 2, 2009.
