Joel specializes in watershed restoration and rural infrastructure planning, design, and implementation through the integration of civil engineering, geology, geomorphology, and hydrology. He has extensive experience overseeing broad initiatives in the Mattole, Eel and Garcia River watersheds as well as projects throughout California. Joel joined Stillwater in 2014 to expand our capabilities into the restoration design and implementation realm, incorporating leading edge science to create innovative engineering designs for fish passage, channel restoration, and off-channel habitat enhancement projects. He combines field and regulatory experience with expertise in CAD, GIS, and modeling software bringing a broad watershed-scale vision to site-specific implementation. In addition, Joel has become engaged in South America and Indonesia working to pursue solutions to some of the largest environmental challenges facing those regions. In his free time, Joel enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and new daughter.
